A San Tan Valley woman is accused of stealing a Mesa police officer’s copy of a citation issued to her from a police car on Tuesday, Oct. 29, while the officer who wrote it was helping an elderly woman change a flat tire, according to a court document.
Police said Joanna Lee Krown, 33, had been cited and released for driving with a suspended license near North Ellsworth Road and East Main Street on Oct. 29. She was walking around near the patrol car while waiting for her husband to come pick her up when an elderly woman came up and asked the officer for help changing a flat tire, according to the document. When the officer returned to his car after helping the woman, he discovered that Krown had left and the officer’s copy of the citation he’d written was missing.
